Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth announced the end of their marriage on Saturday in a joint statement, after briefly splitting for the first time back in 2013.
And as the couple go their separate ways, President Donald Trump has gone viral after telling the American singer she can ‘do much better’ than actor Liam.
In an unearthed tweet, posted on September 20, 2013, Trump weighed in on their first break-up while offering Miley some encouraging words. ‘Don’t worry about Liam. You can do much better and you have plenty of time—remain strong!’ he tweeted directly to Miley, six years ago.
Following the announcement of the end of their marriage on Saturday, the throwback post has gone viral, with thousands of people retweeting it.
‘I can’t believe I live in an age where the president of the United States is tweeting at Miley about her break-up. Like what???’ wrote one Twitter user.
Another wrote: ‘Truly, there is a tweet for everything.’
A third fan, appearing to believe the tweet was shared this week, rather than years ago, responded: ‘Just when I thought I’d seen it all.’
Before becoming the 45th president of the United States, Trump would regularly tweet his thoughts on celebrity news.
In 2012, he shared multiple tweets, which are still visible on his page, encouraging Robert Pattinson not to reunite with ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart.
