HOUSTON – Mr. Charles Stamps, CEO and Founder of MLK Grande Parade organization brought and presented the Texas State House of Representatives’ recognition to Foundation for India Studies during Dr. Milan Vaishnav’s lecture held in India House on March 30, 2019. Signed by State Representative,(Hon) Ron Reynolds, the citation expressed Texas State House’s most sincere Congratulations to the Foundation for India Studies (FIS) as the Honoree of the 25th. Annual MLK Grande Parade that was held in January 2019. The Citation also recognizes FIS’s professional and community service. The Foundation has been continuously participating in the Parade for the past eight years, and in some years, Mr. Vavilala himself led the group dressed as Mahatma Gandhi. In 2015, FIS was declared the winner of the parade’s Grand Marshal Award. The purpose of FIS participation in the parade was to send a visual message that the Indian community and the grassroots America share the same values of Peace and Non-violence as practiced by Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King jr.
